The season ends with them even almost getting married, but deciding at the end that it is too soon - and they should move in together instead. This leads to all kinds of ridiculous hijinks, especially as the gang find out one by one, and it gets hard to keep track of who knows what - and which lies have been told! However, their secret soon comes out, and the latter part of the season sees Monica and Chandler openly dating, and dealing with the usual ups and downs of a relationship. 'The One In Vegas' (season 5, episode 24) - Monica and Chandler almost marry in Vegasįor a large part of season 5, Monica and Chandler are sleeping together, but trying to keep it a secret from the rest of their friends. 'The One Where Everybody Finds Out' (season 5, episode 14) - Phoebe and Ross find out about Monica and Chandler 'The One With All The Resolutions' (season 5, episode 11) - Rachel finds out about Monica and Chandler 'The One With The Kips' (season 5, episode 5) - Joey finds out about Monica and Chandler Despite the fact that they intend this to be a one-time thing, the season four finale is the episode where Monica and Chandler get together - 'The One With Ross' Wedding: Part 2'. until the end of season 4, when they hook up in London. They also often seem closer than some of the others on the show, but nothing comes of it. It's all as a joke, but there's an undercurrent to it, looking back. However, the reaction to the reveal that they slept together in London was so huge that the creators decided to switch things up for the next season, and keep the two together. By the end of the series, it feels like they have always been together, but when did Monica and Chandler actually get together?Īlthough Monica and Chandler eventually became the fan-favorite couple for Friends, and unlike Ross and Rachel, avoided multiple breakups along the way, the Friends reunion special ( Friends: The Reunion) in 2021 revealed that the pair were originally only supposed to have a fling. Ross and Rachel definitely started earlier, as Monica and Chandler didn't get romantic until Ross and Emily's wedding, but they are an amazing pair once they do finally become a couple. So, whether or not you've had your toe chopped off, lost an arm in a past life, had a turkey stuck on your head, or made a dessert that was half English trifle and half shepherd's pie, these are the episodes of Friends we can all be extremely thankful for.Monica and Chandler compete with Ross and Rachel as the ultimate Friends couple - and they may just win, given that they are actually consistently together for more of the series, and are married and new parents by the time the finale rolls around. Even as a non-American, someone who has never really experienced Thanksgiving, there was usually something special about the seasonal episodes of Friends that you managed to understand and enjoy it even as an 'outsider'. Over its 10 season run the show captured the spirit of the holiday better than any other TV show has managed before or since, making viewers laugh, cry, and really hungry for some of Monica's turkey. Even now, over a decade after the show has ended, it remains the 'must-watch' sitcom at this time of year. Some things just scream Thanksgiving.Īnother key element of the holiday is the Friends Thanksgiving episode, which is as important to the season as pumpkin pie, turkey pardons, and the Macy's parade.
